OUR STORY

Born on the
airfield fence.

BASED

DISCIPLINE

Photo · Motion

Mach One Aviation began where most aviation stories do — behind a perimeter fence in Bengaluru, chasing tails and exhaust plumes with a borrowed lens. Today we fly mission-to-mission with the same instinct, now with airside access, air-to-air platforms, and the trust of operators across India and beyond.

Every frame is a technical brief: the light, the aircraft, the story. We don't photograph planes — we document machines at the limit of human engineering.

FROM THE COMMENTS

What they say.

Left in public, under the work, by the people who watched it.

Former USAF here. Many of us are big fans of Sukhoi and this cameraman for obvious reasons.

How is this even real? This has to be the most extraordinary aerial footage I’ve ever seen, it’s like the external views of a flight simulator! Every control surface can be seen working in ultra detail. I gotta pick my jaw up off the floor... WOW! 👏

I can almost see the circuit board inside the cockpit 😳 great capture

BEFORE YOU BRIEF US

Questions we get asked

Do you shoot air-to-air?

Yes. Air-to-air is the core of the work — the archive includes HAL Tejas and Suryakiran sorties flown with the Indian Air Force, shot from a camera platform alongside the subject aircraft rather than from the ground. Air-to-air needs a photo platform, a briefed formation and clearance from the operator, so it is arranged rather than booked on short notice.

Where are you based, and do you travel for shoots?

Mach One Aviation is based in Bengaluru, India, and travels for assignments worldwide. Most of the archive was shot at Kempegowda International (VOBL) and at Yelahanka during Aero India, with civil rotary work out of Juhu in Mumbai.

Can you photograph airside at an airport?

Airside access is never something a photographer holds on their own — it is granted per assignment by the airport operator, the airline or the operating agency, and it comes with an escort and an area pass. The practical effect is that an airside shoot is arranged through whoever is commissioning it, and lead time depends on that authorisation rather than on camera availability.

Do you photograph private and business jets?

Yes. Business jets are a large part of the archive — long-range and midsize types, charter fleets, flight departments and manufacturer demonstrators, photographed on the ramp and in motion. Frames are catalogued with registration and operator intact, which is what owners, brokers and charter operators need when the image has to identify a specific aircraft.

Do you cover airshows, inaugural flights and delivery events?

Yes, and a large part of the archive is exactly that: the Emirates A380 inaugural arrival into Bengaluru with a three-ship escort, the Air India 787 debut in 2012, AirAsia India’s first commercial service in 2014, the first USAF B-1B and C-5 Galaxy touchdowns in 2021, the Airbus C295’s first Indian Air Force airframe, and display flying at Aero India and Wings India. These are single-opportunity events, so they are planned around the operational schedule rather than a shoot schedule.

Do you shoot video as well as stills?

Both. Alongside stills, Mach One Aviation produces cinematic motion for aircraft, crews, cabin interiors and operational sequences, and campaign-ready hero films and key art for launches.

What do you deliver, and who owns the images?

Airline and brand work is delivered as full-resolution, rights-cleared imagery intended for use in the client’s own brand library. Exact licence scope, duration and delivery format are agreed per assignment — get in touch with what the images need to do and the terms are set against that.

How do I commission a shoot?

Send a brief through the contact form on this page with the aircraft or event, the location, the dates and what the imagery is for. Enquiries are answered within 24 hours. Where airside access or an air-to-air platform is involved, the earlier that conversation starts, the more of the operational window is still available.
